Fun night @ Poppy’s
Gian and I went to Poppy’s on Broadway last night. It’s a relatively new restaurant and we had been wanting to try it. We made reservations (a good idea, the place was pretty full). We were seated promptly and greeted by our waiter who explained how the menu worked (you basically order a large or small sampler platter). Now, I am ALWAYS indecisive at restaurants – too many different dishes sound good to me and I worry about picking the “best.” The Poppy concept is perfect for folks like me, you get to try a lot of little different dishes. All of them were very good if not great. The butternut squash soup with black olive praline was spicy and delicious and the Asian pear and celery salad had a distinct, rich flavor. The cocktails were also original and well poured. We would definitely go back!! This is one new business on Capitol Hill that I hope stays around for a long time.
